OVERLAND PARK, Kansas – University of Maine-Presque Isle sophomore forward Derek Healy (Hanover, Mass.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men's soccer Player of the Week. Healy scored three goals on the week, two of which were game-winning goals.
Healy recorded two goals in the Owls, 3-2, double overtime win over The College of St. Joseph (VT) including the game-winner with only 20 seconds remaining. Healy capped off the week with his second game-winning goal versus Green Mountain College on Sunday in the 56th minute to give the Owls their second win of the weekend.
The Association of Division III Independents consists of 10 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
