Owls Battle, But Fall to Rams in Season Opener

Presque Isle, Maine - The season opener between UMPI and Unity College was a defensive battle that ended with Unity taking the 1-0 victory.  Fans saw some exceptional work in goal from both sides. UMPI's Caleb Bragg-Grady (Whitefield, ME) and Unity's Brendan Wallace (Newbury, MA) were stalwarts in goal for their teams with a combined 28 saves between the two.

The lone tally for either squad came at 19:16, when Unity's 6'3 forward Carl Johann Fastberg (Helsingborg, Sweden) escaped the rugged UMPI defense and scored on a pass from Rich Lee (Sabinsville, PA).

The match ended with a flurry of offensive attempts from a spirited UMPI squad that played the last 3:16 a man down.  UMPI outshot the visiting Rams 32-15 for the match and 18-5 in the second half, but Unity's staunch defense held out and came away with the win.
