(PAUL SMITH'S, NY) -- A road weary University of Maine-Presque Isle men's soccer team fell to Paul Smith's College on Sunday, 2-0. It was the 2nd loss in as many days for the Owls who lost to SUNY-Canton on Saturday, 3-1. The team made the 10+ hour drive to New York on Friday to mark their longest road trip of the season.
The loss drops the Owls to 4-3 on the season.
The UMPI men came out strong in this match creating a number of early scoring opportunities on long throws by Seth Cote (Fr./Otis, ME) and corner kicks but could not put one by the Paul Smith's defense.
The Owls had an early goal called back on an offisides call and just missed a number or other good scoring chances.
The game was very physical with 5 UMPI starters on the bench with injuries by the end of the second half. The Owls received some quality minutes from the bench late in the contest but could not recover from the early missed opportunities.
Presque Isle will look to return to win column on Wednesday of this week when they travel to UMaine-Fort Kent for a 3pm match.
