Presque Isle, ME (10-8-11) -- The University of Maine-Presque Isle Men's Soccer Team defeated a short-handed Falcons team from Fisher College (MA) on Saturday, 11-1. The win snaps a 7-game losing streak for the Owls and improves their record to 3-7 on the season. Due to a smaller roster, Fisher played the contest with 7 players.
UMPI jumped out in front early with a goal by Kyle Corrigan (So./Caribou, ME), less than two minutes into the game. By halftime the Owls held a 4-0 advantage. They were up 11-0 with just over five minutes left in the contest before Fisher was able to break up the shutout with a goal by the Keven McLaurin.
Corrigan finished the contest with 3 goals and 3 assists. Aaron Hutchins (Fr./East Millinocket, ME) and Kobe Ashkir (Fr./Portland, ME) had two goals apiece for the Owls, while Carl Nemer (So./Ashland, ME), Craig Maffei (Sr./Readfield, ME), Joel Massa (Fr./Dover Foxcroft, ME), and Germaine Chambers (Fr./Punta Gorda, FL) each contributed a score.
On the afternoon, UMPI outshot Fisher 33-6.
The Owls return to action tomorrow, October 8th when they play host to the Roos of SUNY-Canton. UMPI will be looking to avenge a pair of losses at the hands of the Roos last weekend, 4-0 and 2-1. Game time is slated for 1:00pm at Park Family Field on the UMPI campus.
