Fort Kent, ME 9/17/11 – When the first USCAA Men's Soccer coaches' poll was released this week, the University of Maine-Fort Kent was ranked #1. On Saturday afternoon, they proved why. The Bengals scored 5 goals in the first half against the University of Maine-Presque Isle en route to a 7-0 victory in Fort Kent. The Owls, who had come into the game ranked #5 in that same poll, fall to 2-3 on the season. Fort Kent moves to 7-1.
UMFK's Phathizwe Sacolo got the scoring started early with a goal 2:33 into the contest off an assist from teammate Spence Jacoby. Kenrick McLeod scored the next three goals, all in the first half, and the route was on. For the game, Fort Kent outshot the Owls, 30-4.
UMPI will play again on Sunday, September, 18th when they host USCAA #8 University of Maine-Machias. Game time is set for 4:00pm.
