PRESQUE ISLE, ME (11-4-11) -- UMPI midfielder Craig Maffei (Sr./Readfield, ME) has been named an "Honorable Mention" to the USCAA All-American team in an announcement released by the organization on Friday.
Maffei had a solid season for the Owls, leading the team in goals (6) and tying for the team lead in points (13). On September 5th, Maffei scored 2 goals leading UMPI to a 5-2 win at Unity College.
"Craig had an outstanding 4-year career here," said Owls' coach Alan Gordon, "I am pleased he got this recognition for what he accomplished for this, his senior season!"
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association was formed in 2001 as a reorganization of the National Small College Athletic Association with a clearer vision of providing an association to hold national championships, name All-Americans and scholar-athletes, and to promote USCAA member schools. It currently has 82 members in 24 states, stretching across the nation, from Maine to Washington state.
