|Title:||Head Coach - Men's Golf|
Dan Hotham begins his 3rd season as the coach of the men's golf team in 2012.
In 2011, Hotham's Owls dominated the field, placing 1st in four different invites: UMPI Invitational, NMCC Invitational, MMA Invitational, and EMCC Invitational.
During his first year at UMPI, Coach Hotham directed the team to a 1st place finish in the Sunrise Conference Championships and was named the conference's "Coach Of the Year".
Hotham recently retired from Northern Maine Community College, where, in addition to his work as the institution's longest serving faculty member, he served for more than 20 years as the first head coach of the varsity golf team. During his time as golf coach at NMCC, the Falcons were members of the Maine Small College Conference, which included community colleges from around the state and the University of Maine at Augusta. During his 22 years of coaching at NMCC, the Falcons won the conference title three times.
Hotham, who has a Bachelor's degree in education from the University of Maine at Machias, and Master's degree from Antioch New England Graduate School, has been playing golf since he was a teenager. He took time off from the sport during college, but it was not long before he felt the itch to get back on the links, and he's been playing ever since. Not only does Dan have a wealth of coaching experience, he is an accomplished golfer in his own right. Currently, he stays heavily involved in golf, playing anywhere from 20 to 25 tournaments every summer. He has won several club championships, including the Spudland Open and the McCain's Open.
"I enjoy sharing my passion for the game with young people because it is a game they can play for the rest of their lives. It provides an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, and the company of those who play this challenging game," Hotham said.
