Delhi, NY – The UMPI Owls traveled to SUNY Delhi to compete in the North Atlantic Conference Championship. The match would be played at The College Course at Delhi, at Par 71 – 6459 Yard course as the teams teed off from the Blue tees.
The Owls finished day 1 with a team score of 376, putting them in 9th, just one away from the 8th place team. Husson University is currently in first with a team score of 295. Day two of the match will presume tomorrow, with tee times starting as early as 9:30am.
Dawson Watson (Fort Fairfield, ME) led the Owls; from the number two spot, with a score of 87, +16. Finishing with four pars and two birdies. Matt Randall (Sioux Falls, SD), finished the match in the number 1 spot with an 89, +18. Finishing with five pars. Payton Jones (Green Cove Springs, FL) finished day one with a 95, Timothy Burns (Green Cove Springs, FL) finished with a 105 and Jacob Mondor (Hebron, ME) finished the 18 holes with a 106.
The Owls finished day two with an overall team score of 372, four strokes lower than day one. Some of the Owls golfers struggles while others had season low scores. Dawson Watson (Fort Fairfield, ME) yet again led the Owls with the low score of 85, +14 through 18, putting him +30 through both days. Watson recorded a 43 front 9 with three of his five pars on the front. Matt Randall (Sioux Falls, SD) finished day two with an 89, finishing with a +36 in the two-day tournament. Timothy Burns (Green Cove Springs, FL) was the third low scorer on the day with a 97, compared to his day one 105. Jacob Mondor (Hebron, ME) finished with a 101, five strokes better than his first day. Payton Jones (Green Cove Springs, FL) struggled in his final round of the year, finishing with a 103.
The Owls finish their best season in the recent years, consistently scoring team low scores, despite some high team scores the Owls are heading in the right direction with the Golf program.
