The UMPI Golf team Continued their strong play, finishing 3rd at the Maine Intercollegiate Golf Championships this weekend at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course.  Reynold Brown (Essex, CT) led the Owl squad, finishing 15th individually and Mike Balmer (New Smyrna Beach, FL) finished one spot back at 16.  The third place finish marks the best finish UMPI has registered in the 11 team event that annually attracts the best collegiate golfers in Maine.

Brown had a consistent weekend shooting a 158 for the two-round event and Balmer followed with a 159.  DJ Conley (South Portland, ME) and Jordan Bealier (Ashland, ME) both hit 161's and Eric Depner Farmington, CT) rounded out the scoring with a combined 169.  Bealiers' weekend included a season low 75 round on the second day of the event, after shooting an 86 on day one.

"This is the best finish ever for a UMPI team in this great event, the team did an awesome Job" said Head Coach Dan Hotham.  "While none of the team had a spectacular individual score, the team complimented one another very well and were rewarded with a well-earned third place finish"

Next up, the Owls travel Wednesday, to Castine Country Club to compete in the MMA Mariner Cup Tournament.
