Presque Isle, ME 9/10/11 One day later, the conditions were different but the results were the same for the University of Maine-Presque Isle men's golf team. Yesterday, on a beautiful sunny, 70 degree day the Owls' won their own six-team invitational with a final team tally of 236. Today at the NMCC Invitational it was cold and windy and apparently just perfect for the Owls as they slashed 12 strokes off of yesterday's score to post a 314 and win the invitational crown.
Reynold Brown (Fr./Essex, CT) once again paced the Owls' on this day with an impressive 4-over 76. That score, along with his 77 from yesterday made him a back-to-back medalist. Mike Balmer (So./New Smyrna Beach, FL) and Anthony Batchelder (So./West Enfield, ME) each carded 78's, while DJ Conley (Fr./South, ME) and Allen Conner (Fr./Stonington, ME) finished with scores of 82. Every UMPI golfer trimmed strokes from their final scores compared to yesterday despite the less than favorable conditions.
The Owls' golfers will hit the links next on Thursday, September 15th, when they travel to Farmington, ME for the University of Maine-Farmington Invitational. The invite will take place at the Sunday River Golf Course starting at 10am.
