Bangor, ME – The Owls finished the back half of their two-day doubleheader at Husson University. Losing the second match up 87-56. Despite the rough shooting for the Owls, the game stayed close until a late run by the Eagles put the game away.
The Eagles came out strong with an eight-point lead in the first ten minutes of the game. The back and forth continued for the teams until halftime, finishing the first half 37-23 in the Eagles favor. The Owls continued to fight, despite the Eagles sharp shooting. The Owls brought the game within ten points multiple times early in the second half. Until the Owls ran out of gas and the Eagles put the game away.
The Owls struggled offensively finishing with 25 turnovers and shooting 39% from the field. UMPI was able to cause 18 turnovers to help even the turnover game but it was not enough, as the Eagles were able to get 13 more field goal attempts than the Owls.
Akhe McMichael (St. Petersburg, FL) led the Owls once again in points with 15. Shooting 50% from the three and adding four rebounds and two assists. Gilbert Jean (Dunedin, FL) finished with 13 points off 60% shooting and adding four steals to his stat line. DanyJoel Harris (Danbury, CT) led the Owls bench with five point and six rebounds in just 12 minutes.
The Owls will look to play a handful more games the rest of this semester. Planning to play again next weekend. More details will be provided when available.
