Back and Forth Battle with Falcons End in Tough Loss for the Owls

Presque Isle, ME – The Owls men's basketball team took on non-conference opponents Fisher College in their second game of their back to back home games on the weekend. The battle between the two team went back and forth throughout the whole game, with five ties and 16 lead changes throughout the course of the game. The Falcons would hold on at the end, with a three point victory, 77-74.

After a 16-11 start in favor of the Falcons, the Owls went on a 17-3 run to give them a nine point lead with under six minutes to go in the first half. Fisher went on a run themselves to bring the game to a 33-33 tie going in the half. The back and forth battle continued, with the largest lead being five, by the Owls, until the 1:15 mark, when Fisher took a one point lead. Back to back turnovers caused the Owls to have to foul late game, with 23 seconds left. After two makes and the lead to three points the Owls were unable to convert before losing by 3.

Jhalen Lumpkins of Fisher College led the Falcons with 25 points off and impressive 12-15 from the field. Shyquinn Dix (Jr. Stamford, CT) led the Owls in scoring with 20 points and ten rebounds giving him another double-double on the season. Griffin Guerrette (So. Presque Isle, ME) finished with 14 points, while DeAndre Duncombe (Jr. Port St. Lucie, FL) finished with an efficient 13 points on 4-8 shooting. Te'Von Hines (Sr. Alexandria, VA) yet again had an efficient game, with 11 points on 50% shooting and five rebounds.

The Owls will have the week off before hosting North Atlantic Conference opponent Northern Vermont – Lyndon on Friday and Saturday.
