Late Game Comeback Not Enough For Owls

The UMPI men's basketball team finished up their tournament at Wesleyan University with a game vs Sage College. Another late game comeback from the Owls was not enough as they lose 92-85.

The Owls were led yet again by Shyquinn Dix (Jr. Stamford, CT) as he recorded his first career triple double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and only one turnover. Yet again the Owls found themselves in a hole early, down 47-35 at half time despite and early 10-point lead in the first ten minutes of the game.

UMPI found themselves down 60-48 with 12:38 left in the game before going on a 20-6 run in just four and a half minutes to gain the lead 68-66. This huge run was led by Te'Von Hines (Sr. Alexandria, VA) and Chris Brown (So. Post St. Lucie, FL) as they each had seven of those 20 points.

The game would continue to go back and fourth until the Gators would eventually go on a 12-5 run to end the game. Griffin Guerrette (So. Presque Isle, ME) ended with 20 points while Hines finished the game with 19 points off 7-13 from the field and 4-6 from three and seven rebounds. Brown finished with 12 points off 5-6 shooting and 2-2 from beyond the arc.
