UNITY, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Men's Basketball team (10-10) would complete their season sweep of Unity College (6-14) with a 79-70 victory on the road on Sunday afternoon.
UMPI would have to overcome a hot shooting Rams team from behind the arc. Unity would knock down 54.5% of the three-point attempts on the afternoon. The Owls would shoot 42% from the floor and make more free throws then their opponent attempted (14 made free throws for the Owls, 13 free throw attempts for the Rams). Both teams would get double-digit scoring efforts from four players.
The Owls got 22 points off the bench from Quinton Harris (JR, Florence, NJ), which included an eight for 13 shooting display from the field. Maurice Harris (JR, Miami, FL) would add 19 points and four rebounds, while Derek Healy (SR, Hanover, MA) would contribute 16 points and four assists. Anthony Chacho (JR, Watertown, CT) would score 15 points and grab five rebounds for the Owls as well. The Rams would be led offensively by Sean Tocci (SR, Bangor, ME), who would score 16 points in the loss.
The Owls return home to host the Clippers of the University of Maine at Machias (8-9) on Thursday. It will be a doubleheader of basketball action as the women's teams from both schools are scheduled to play at 5 PM that evening and the men's teams will take the floor afterwards. UMPI Athletics will be hosting its Coaches vs. Cancer and Pediatric Cancer Awareness night and proceeds from the night's activities will go towards cancer charities.
