FORT KENT – The University of Maine at Presque Isle (13-10) couldn't overcome the University of Maine at Fort Kent Bengals (20-14) on the road, falling by a final score of 72-61.
The Owls started the game shooting well, and built a 19-10 lead to start the contest. UMPI would go cold in the final 11 minutes of the first half, only scoring six points, but they were able to carry a slim 19-16 lead into the break.
The Bengals took control in the second half, and lead by as many as 14 points. The Owls would fight back to within six, but UMFK would hold on for the 11 point lead. The Bengals would shoot 49.1% from the floor on the day, and created 12 Owl turnovers in the victory. Combined with being outrebounded by their hosts 37-24, the Owls shot just 36.4% and could not overcome the face paced Bengals.
Qaadir Ali (SR, South Hayward, CA) would lead the way for UMFK, scoring 17 points while dealing out eight assists. Marquis Glenn (SR, East Oakland, CA) would add 13 points and grab eight rebounds.
For the Owls, Maurice Harris (SO, Miami, FL) would score 14 points on the night, while Nick Lenhard (JR, Falcon, CO) would add ten points and four assists.
The Owls wrap up regular season play on Saturday as they travel to Fisher for a 2 PM tip.
