UNITY, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls (13-9) continued their late season win streak with a 91-52 victory over the Unity College Rams (4-11).
Every member of the Owls roster contributed points as UMPI took control of the game early and cruised to the victory. They shot 50% on the afternoon, including hitting nine of twenty from three point. The Owls would outrebound their opponents 38-20 and their 12 steals would lead to twenty Ram turnovers. Unity would have an advantage from the free throw line, getting 21 attempts, but would only convert on 13 of those. The Rams would connect on 41.9% of their shots, but would not shoot well from deep, hitting just three of 13 attempts from behind the arc.
Chase Vicaire (SR, Mattawamkeag, ME) would connect on five of seven from three point to tally 21 points. Kevin Collins (SO, Fort Washington, MD) would add 14 points, while Maurice Harris (SO, Miami, FL) would record a double-double, scoring 13 while grabbing 11 rebounds.
Eddie Kopacz (SR, Thompson, CT) would lead all scorers with 27 points and seven rebounds for the Rams. Sean Tocci (JR, Bangor, ME) would add eleven points.
The Owls will travel to their northern rivals on Wednesday night. Game time at U Maine Fort Kent is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
