Newport News, VA -- UMaine-Presque Isle senior Michael Warner (Norwich, UK) has been named to the 2014 USCAA Men's Basketball Division I All-American Second Team.
The 6'3 swingman was one of the Nation's most accurate long-range snipers, hitting his 3PT shots at a 45.8% clip, good enough to rank him #6 in the USCAA. Warner led the Owls in scoring (15.4ppg) while ranking in the top ten in the USCAA in FT% at 84.8%, dishing out 37 assists and grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game as well.
The consistent Ironman of UMPI Basketball, Warner scored in double figures 18 times and gathered 7 or more rebounds 8 times in ranking in the top 20 in minutes played for all USCAA players. In all, Warner registered in the top 25 in five offensive statistical categories and in the top 50 in six more.
Playing perhaps his best basketball in big USCAA games, Warner scored 22 points and 7 rebounds against #11 UMaine-Machias in an early season victory and most in attendance will not soon forget his game-high 24 point, 7 rebound performance in defeating the #1 ranked Central Maine Mustangs to close out his career on his home court.
"Mike has worked hard during the course of his career to become a complete player and he is most deserving of this honor", noted UMPI Head Coach Jim Casciano. "I am thrilled for him, Mike is a true student-athlete."
