WATERVILLE, Maine --- Michael McClung, who made the all-tournament team, finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and three blocked shots to lead University of Maine at Fort Kent (2-3 overall) to a 74-62 win over University of Maine at Presque Isle in the consolation game of the Colby College Classic on Sunday.
UMFK took a 33-27 lead into the locker room after battling back and forth with UMPI for the first 20 minutes. The early parts of the game saw the lead change hands six times before UMFK would wrestle control away from a game Owl team.
The Blue & Gold just could not chip into the Bengal lead, only cutting the deficit under double digits twice in the second half, the last time with a Thiago Conceicao foul shot at 9:24, to make the score 54-45.
Michael Warner, an all-tournament team pick for UMPI, had 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Freshman Conceicao added 15 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Chase Vicaire had 11 points for the Owls, who trailed 33-27 at halftime.
UMPI (2-3 overall) will next play Connecticut College on Saturday, December 7th as part of the Camel/U.S. Coast Guard Cadet Classic.
