UMPI Falls to Bengals in Star City Classic Finale
Through 25 minutes of play, UMPI led UM-Fort Kent 49-46 but the youthful Owl squad just could not hold onto the lead, falling 80-70 to the Bengals in the Star City Classic finale Sunday. Mauro Vicic was high scorer for UM-Fort Kent with 22 points and 12 rebounds, Mike McClung and James Givens each scored 16 for the visitors.
UMPI's Michael Warner had 17 points and 9 rebounds for the game and with his 24 point, 7 rebound performance in game one of the Classic, was named to the All-Classic team as well. All five UMPI starters scored in double digits for Head Coach Jim Casciano. Thiago Conceicao had 12 points and 8 rebounds and Derek Healy added 12 with 4 assists and 4 steals.
The Owls move to 1-1 on the season and next play Maine Maritime in Presque Isle on Wednesday, November 20th at 6pm. UM-Fort Kent is 2-2 on the season.
