The UMPI Men's Basketball schedule was officially released Friday. Veteran Head Coach Jim Casciano has scheduled plenty of challenges for his young squad, highlighted by a December 15th road game against Division I University of Maine-Orono.
The regular season action gets underway at home on November 15, when UM-Machias comes to town to start the Star City Classic, a 3-team men's event that also pits UMaine rival Fort Kent against UMPI on Sunday, November 17th.
Home games on November 20th against Maine Maritime and December 11th with UM-Fort Kent are sandwiched between tournament play at the Colby College Classic on the weekend of December 7-8th and The Can-Am Tournament on January 4-5th, where the Owls will play two outstanding Canadian college programs, St. John's (NB) and Holland College (PEI).
Vermont Tech visits Presque Isle on January 8th and a home game against Eastern Maine Community College welcomes the students back from the semester break on Saturday, January 25th.
February is a busy month for Coach Casciano's Crew, as the Blue and Gold will suit up six times in the first 13 days of the calendars' shortest month. USCAA stalwart Virginia-Lynchburg is the opponent on Sunday, February 2nd, followed by the final meeting between UMPI and UM-Fort Kent away on February 5th.
Saturday, February 8th is the final home game on the schedule, as the Mustangs of Central Maine travel north to take on the Owls. The regular season comes to an end with UMPI visiting Colby College on February 11 and UMaine-Machias on 2/13.
