Comeback Bid Falls Short For Owls

(BANGOR, ME) --  The Eastern Maine Community College men's basketball team staked itself out to a 40-26 halftime lead and then staved off all University of Maine-Presque Isle comeback attempts in the second half to defeat the Owls, 75-63.

Presque Isle falls to 9-12 on the season.

The win for the Golden Eagles avenges an 87-68 defeat at the hands of the Owls in Presque Isle back on December 14th.

EMCC built their lead up to 17 in the second half.  The Owls were able to trim their deficit down to 6 on a couple of occasions but could never get closer.

Saturday's game was a make-up after the originally scheduled date of January 16th had to be postponed due to snow.

The Owls will return home Sunday, February 3rd to take on Fisher College.  Presque Isle fell to the Falcons, 80-70, in Massachusetts back on January 4th.  Gametime is 2pm.

During Sunday afternoon's game, UMPI basketball will be taking part in "Think Pink" activities to help raise Breast Cancer Awareness.  Players will wear pink pre-game shirts and shoelaces.  Special activities during and in-between the women's and men's basketball games will also be held.
