(PRESQUE ISLE, ME) -- The United States Collegiate Athletic Association announced its men's and women's basketball All-American and All-Academic teams this week. University of Maine-Presque Isle cagers were represented on all lists.
On the men's side, Patrick Manifold (Jr./Great Yarmouth, UK) is an "Honorable Mention" to the men's Division I All-American team. Manifold had his best collegiate season under first year Owls' head coach Jim Casciano averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game for UMPI this season.
Manifold was also named to the All-Academic team for the USCAA. He was joined by teammates Kyle Corrigan (Jr./Caribou, ME), Brennen Morton (Sr./Chepachet, RI), Lucas Bartlett (So./Bradley, ME) and Brad Trask (Jr./Easton, ME).
To be included on the All-Academic Team student-athletes must be either a sophomore, junior, or senior and possess a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
On the women's side for UMPI, Rashell Saucier (So./Washburn, ME) received "Honorable Mention" status to the USCAA's All-American Team. Saucier averaged a double-double this season (12 ppg, 10 rpg) and finished in the top 10 of two statistical categories (FG% and rebounds). Earlier this season Saucier was named the USCAA "Player of the Week" for her play from November 28-December 4th.
Four UMPI women's basketball players were named to the USCAA All-Academic team. Emily Moore (Sr./Lisbon, ME), Emily Pelletier (Jr./Fort Kent, ME), Chelsea Boudreau (Sr./Wallace, Nova Scotia), and Taylor Ussery (So./La Verne, CA) were all honored for accomplishments in the classroom.
