(PRESQUE ISLE, ME) -- University of Maine-Fort Kent's Jeremy Thomas and Othniel Hyliger scored 17 points a piece to pace the Bengals to a 75-64 win over host UMaine-Presque Isle on Tuesday night. The game was a make-up from a postponed game back on January 27th due to snow.
On a night where both teams were a combined 13-17 from three-point range (UMFK 6-7, UMPI 7-10) it was the Bengals inside and transition game that made the difference. Up 25-18, Fort Kent (15-6) turned a couple of quick steals into transition dunks and layups to break open to a double digit lead at the half, 38-23.
Midway into the 2nd half, the Bengals had built to a 20-point lead, 56-36. UMPI (3-13) continued to battle. Led by Patrick Manifold's (Jr./Great Yarmouth, UK) 21 point, 15 rebound performance, the Owls chipped the deficit down to nine at 72-61 but with only 1:08 left to play.
UMPI and UMFK will play again this Friday, February 10th in Fort Kent. Tip time is set for 7:30pm
