WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Junior post player Chris Robitaille (Canton) converted ten of 12 shots from the floor as the Eastern Connecticut State University men's basketball team rolled to its tenth straight win, an 83-51 non-conference victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle Thursday night at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.
Robitaille scored a career-high 21 points while senior forward Hamilton Levy (Woodbury) and senior guard Jamie Kohn (Columbia) grabbed 12 and ten rebounds, respectively to lead Eastern (11-1) to a 40-24 advantage on the boards. The Warriors outscored UMPI (2-9) 60-12 in the paint.
Leading by nine at the break, Eastern scored seven straight points early in the second half during a 24-8 run that pushed the lead to 25, 58-33, eight minutes into the frame.
Owls' guard Aaron Hutchins (So./East Millinocket, ME) led UMPI with 18 points (7-for-12 from the floor).
UMPI now returns home and will prepare to take on UMaine-Augusta on Sunday January 15th. The two teams faced each other in Augusta back on December 8th with UMA coming away with a 67-52 win. Game time is set for 2pm.
