UMPI Baseball Welcomes Saunders to 22'-23' Roster

Presque Isle, ME – The Owls Baseball team welcomes another 2022-23 recruit. Kobe Saunders out of Calais, Maine will join the UMPI family this coming fall 2022. Saunders plans to study Business Administration while playing for the baseball team.

While attending Calais High School, Kobe played catcher and first base for the team. In his junior year, Kobe led his team in Batting Average and Runs Batted In. Hitting .480, 26 RBI's to go along with six doubles and 11 stolen bases. His contributions do not end there, "Kobe is the most dedicated player I have coached.  His high baseball IQ and leadership on the field makes him a great asset to our team." Said, Calais High School Coach Marc Rohde, "He has been one of the top hitters every year he has played for me, starting with his freshman year.  I am looking forward to see what he will accomplish his senior year this spring.  It has been an absolute pleasure coaching Kobe and he will be deeply missed when he moves on to start his career with the UMPI Owls."

Coach Rohde is not the only one excited to bring Kobe on board, "I have been following Kobe for a couple years now and I am excited to get him wearing the Owls colors next year and see where his future will go. He brings some leadership to our program and I am truly excited to add another up and coming catcher to our program. Kobe brings some hard-nosed Maine baseball to the team." Said coach Roger Stinson, UMPI head coach.

Kobe also mentioned his excitement, "I am very happy to continue my baseball career at the college level.  UMPI is a great school and I am happy to be an Owl." The whole Owls family is excited to welcome Kobe Saunders to UMPI.
