Baseball Team Getting 4 More Recruits

Presque Isle, ME - UMPI Head Baseball Coach Roger Stinson is pleased to announce four players who have recently committed to the University of Maine at Presque Isle for their Education and to continue their baseball career's.

Local athlete Nicholas Perfitt from Houlton, Maine will be joining the Team in September and majoring in Business at UMPI. Nicholas played for Coach Jim Castner at Houlton High School and attended Husson University for one year. Perfitt is a shortstop and pitcher. "Nicholas is a tall, dedicated pitcher that works hard and has a natural cut to his fastball. As a hitter, his bat speed is quick to the ball," said Coach Castner. 

Perfitt stated, "I am excited to continue my career at UMPI as a baseball player. I think playing baseball here will also, give me a good opportunity to grow both inside and outside of baseball."

 

Florida native Timmy Burns from Green Cove Springs will bring some thump to the Owl's batting lineup in the 2019-2020 baseball season. "Timmy is a gentle giant who plays baseball with a passion and with maximum effort. He strives to be the best in the classroom and on the field," said Coach Ricky Jones.

Burns played his ball at Clay High School in Florida and plans to major in Business while at UMPI.

 

United Christian Academy graduate Dalton Shifflett from Green Count, Virginia will be bringing his baseball talents to the UMPI Program this Fall. Shifflett is a left fielder but also, has the versatility to play several other positions. "Dalton is hard working and is a very quick baseball player with a high IQ of the game," said his High School Coach Phillip Powell.

Shifflett has not declared an academic major at this time.

 

Nathan Parker will be coming to UMaine-Presque Isle from the Midwest and will be majoring in Agri Business and Agri Science. Parker graduated from Aurora High School in Aurora, Nebraska. 

Nathan will bolster the UMPI pitching staff and also plays the outfield. "I am excited to see this program grow and I am ready to play at UMPI," said Parker.
