UMPI Baseball Players Work with Area Athletes

Presque Isle, ME - (Wieden Hall Gymnasium)

Clinics every Sunday starting January 27,2018 through March 10, 2018 8am-10am.

Cost per clinic $25 per session, clinic packages are also available.

The Owls will be holding weekly clinics during their preseason working on pitching, hitting, fielding, throwing mechanics. The coaches and the team will be on hand to work with players individually during the clinics.

Catchers: Players will be introduced to a variety of drills used by the Owls Baseball Program that focus on receiving, blocking, footwork, exchange, and throws. Players must bring their own catcher's gear.

Pitchers: The pitching session stresses proper throwing mechanics that reduce over-use injuries while adding velocity and accuracy. Players will participate in a variety of drills and will have the chance to be filmed and have their mechanics broke down by Coach McLaughlin and staff.

Hitting: Players will participate in several hitting drills used by UMPI Baseball to promote good mechanics and proper swing techniques. Players will have a chance to watch themselves on film with Coach Stinson, and his staff a to help improve swing mechanics. Players will get a chance to hit off the video pitching machine, during the clinics. We have a very limited number of bats (Drop 3's) so players are strongly encouraged to bring their own equipment, as we have very limited on hand.

Fielders: This session will stress basic fielding techniques for both infielders and outfielders, and players will participate in basic fielding drills for both positions that are staples of the Owls Baseball Program.

"We are trying to give the young athletes an avenue to hone in their skills and prepare for the upcoming baseball season. As a coach I love to work with the younger generation and also see our UMPI players giving back to kids in the community," stated Owls Head Coach Roger Stinson.
