HARRISONBURG, VA – Presque Isle pitching struggled again as sophomore Andrew Bartlett surrendered 12 runs, 10 earned, in just three and two thirds innings, as Eastern Mennonite University beat UMaine-Presque Isle 18-4 in their home opener for the 2014 season.

Senior Owl hurler Ryan Thompson was able to stop the bleeding with three and a third strong innings of relief, in which he struck out six and gave up just one earned run, but the hole was just too deep for the Blue and Gold to climb out of.

Bartlett took the loss on the mound.  Presque Isle was led offensively by senior Shane Smith who went three for three with two doubles and two runs scored and senior Justin Bergeron who was three for five with an RBI, double, and a run scored.

The Owls end their trip with a double header at Washington and Lee University.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
