(CENTER VALLEY, PA) – The DeSales University baseball team tied their record for most runs in a game in a 26-4 win over University of Maine-Presque Isle on Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
DSU (11-7) were also within one walk of tying the mark for most walks in a game, being handed first base 13 times on Thursday.
After a scoreless first inning, DeSales put five runs on the board in the second inning and never looked back. Senior Ethan Moser capped off the inning with a three-run home run to right-field. DSU added seven more runs in the third and scored in all but the first and seventh innings.
Jordan Duffy (Jr./Ft. Augustus P.E.I, Canada) collected a season-high 3 hits in a losing effort for the Owls.
UMPI pitcher Ghazaleh Sailors (Fr./Santa Barbara, CA) pitched 3 1/3 innings and earned the interesting distinction of giving up the MOST runs of the four Owl hurlers on the day (11) but the LEAST earned runs (2). The Owls defense did not help their pitchers by committing 7 errors.
Freshman Jonathan Bujtas earned the win pitching four shutout innings allowing just one hit to improve to 2-0 on the year.
The Owls (2-15) will look to bounce back tomorrow when they travel to New York to take on St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) at 4pm.
