Big 8th Inning Helps Owls Snap Skid

(LANGHORNE, PA) --  Cam Morrell's (So./Harpsell, ME) bases loaded 2-RBI double in the top of the 8th inning broke a 2-2 tie and helped lead UMPI to an 11-6 win over host Philadelphia Biblical University on Tuesday afternoon.

The Owls went on to score 6 runs in the 8th.  Carlos Villoria (Jr./Caracas, Venezuela) led off the inning with a single and capped the scoring in the frame with a 2 RBI single.  It was Villoria's 7th and 8th RBI's of the season.

After PBU plated two runs in their half of the 8th, UMPI took an 8-4 lead into the ninth.  A 3-run ninth thanks to a Justin Bergeron (So./Tiverton, RI) RBI double and Joshua Gale (Fr./Sedgwick, ME) 2-RBI single gave the Owls the breathing room it needed to seal the win.

Jordan Perry (So./Baileyville, ME) picked up his first win of the season pitching a complete game 10-hitter.  Perry gave up 3 earned runs, walked none, and struck out four in helping UMPI snap a 10-game losing skid.

The Owls are now 2-13 for the season.

Morrell finished the afternoon 3-5 at the plate with 2 runs and 2 RBI.  Ted Walker (So./Caribou, ME) collected two hits and an RBI to raise his team-leading total to 9.

UMPI continues their spring break trip tomorrow heading to St. Davids, PA to take on Eastern University.  The game will be video streamed live starting at 3:00pm.
