UMPI Leads USCAA in All-Academic Athletes

(PRESQUE ISLE) -- The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced at its recent national convention that the University of Maine-Presque Isle led all member institutions with 26 student-athletes receiving All-Academic recognition in 2011-2012.

"It's a great achievement for our student-athletes.  It just goes to show the commitment of our student-athletes, coaches, and faculty to keeping the STUDENT in student-athlete first and foremost," said UMPI interim-athletic director Paul Stone.

A look at this achievement:

  • 2011-2012 was UMPI's first season as a member of the USCAA
  • Each of the 12 sports currently offered at UMPI had representatives on the All-Academic Team in 2011-2012.
  • Of the 26 student-athletes receiving recognition, 10 were multi-sport athletes.
