Emily Pelletier -- 2012-13 Female Student-Athlete of the Year
As impressive as the 2012-13 female student-athlete of the year’s resume was prior to this season, she saved her best for last setting career highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, free throws made and attempted.
Prior to this season, only 7 Owl women’s basketball players in the history of the program had reached the 1000- point mark. She joined that exclusive club in February, on her birthday, and would go on to finish her career with 1026 points. Even more impressive when one considers that her final 82 points came after suffering an injury to her SHOOTING shoulder in late January. Her athletic achievements include:
Association of NCAA Division III Independent’s 2nd
· AD3I “Player of the Week” in January.
· Led Owls to 2-0 record at Star City Classic by hitting a game-winning three pointer vs. Thomas College. Was named Classic MVP.
. 7th All-Time Leading Scorer in program history.
· Finished her career with 261 made 3-pointers.
And lest one be fooled into thinking that her work ethic was restricted to just a basketball court; consider that this year’s recipient was named to the USCAA All-Academic Team, is the president of the UMPI Athletic Training Club, is the Maine Athletic Trainers Student Representative for the Eastern District Athletic Training Association, and was named the UMaine-Presque Isle “Student of the Month” in November.
Ladies and gentlemen, you’re 2012-13 Female Student-Athlete of the Year: women’s basketball guard
